Grand success at the Gran Fondo
Sharman Quinney raises £1,200 for charity
Three members of local estate agency Sharman Quinney have recently completed the ‘Tour of Cambridgeshire Gran Fondo’ – a bike challenge covering over 80 miles around Cambridgeshire – raising a staggering £1,200 for national charity Sue Ryder.
The budding cyclists - Spencer Hopp, Paolo Maraio and Rob Gray – took five hours to complete the UK's first ever authentic continental style Gran Fondo on 7th June 2015. The participants, who enjoyed lovely weather throughout the day, tackled an extremely challenging course around Cambridgeshire in order to raise money and awareness for their chosen charity Sue Ryder. Sharman Quinney has a long standing relationship with Sue Ryder, and is delighted to have raised such an impressive amount for the cause.
“The team and I are thrilled to have had the opportunity to take part in an incredibly challenging and exciting event,” says Area Director, Spencer Hopp. “We trained hard for this but nothing could prepare us for the exhaustion we felt in the last 10 miles of the course. It was all worth it though to raise such an incredible amount of money for a great cause. We are celebrating 25 years of trading this year and have been working closely with Sue Ryder for a long time, so we wanted to do something bigger and better to raise money and this bike challenge really does show our commitment and support for the charity."
Sue Ryder is a charity providing compassionate care to people with end of life and long term needs. Donations to the cause can still be made: please visit the JustGiving site at https://www.justgiving.com/spencerhopp/
