Home buying activity continues in 2014, says Sharman Quinney
The housing market is booming according to estate agency Sharman Quinney.
The agency's branches across Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire recorded an almost 30% hike in home sales at the start of the year, testimony to the rising numbers of home buyers with greater access to mortgages and schemes like Help to Buy.
Sharman Quinney also saw a 16% rise in the number of sellers putting their properties on the market at the beginning of 2014 although this increase falls far short in terms of satisfying demand from buyers. According to the agent the appetite to purchase a property is in full force so it’s a great time for home owners who have been thinking of moving to market their home.
“It’s no secret that the housing market is stronger and more active than it has been in many years,” says Sharman Quinney Managing Director Mike Sharman. “It’s fantastic to see decisive and confident buyers coming into the market, especially those who are purchasing a home for the first time and getting onto the property ladder.
“In 2014 we need to see a greater supply of homes coming onto the market in order to fulfil the level of demand we are now seeing,” Mike continues. “I would urge anyone who has been thinking of selling their home to get in touch and arrange a free market appraisal of their property.”
Sharman Quinney recently launched its ‘Ready to Sell’ service which helps sellers get the best price for their property by holding an open day event. In the current market, open houses are an effective way of showcasing vendors’ properties and helping to achieve the best price.
